The Sylvia Bongo Ondimba Foundation offers a special scholarship, the “Ozavino Scholarship” (meaning “honour” in the Myènè language). Recipients of this scholarship are:
- Pupils selected for the excellence of their school reports and baccalaureate results;
- Strong students wishing to go onto the Grandes Ecoles (post-secondary) or top universities.
The aim of this project is to allow Gabonese pupils who distinguish themselves through the quality of their school results and their leadership skills, to receive a strong education anywhere in the world, so that they may be competitive on the job market and become true participants in the development of their country.
The Ozavino Scholarship project aims to offer the best students in the country optimal conditions in which to develop to their full potential by joining the most prestigious schools and universities in the world.
Since 2013, the Sylvia Bongo Ondimba Foundation for the Family has therefore set up the Ozavino Scholarship. In total, 13 young Gabonese students were selected on the basis of their school report as well as their leadership skills. This enabled them to join renowned higher education institutions and to receive a strong education, to become true participants in the development of their country.
Simultaneously, an “Ozavino Hothouse” was set up in 2013; it brings together the best year 11 pupils (Sophomore year in the US) from state secondary schools across Gabon. This concept was thought up in order to reinforce the capabilities of these youngsters “upstream”, and to facilitate their access to this special scholarship. These pupils receive support in many ways in partnership with the Ecole Ruban Vert, as well as through coaching sessions for a better personal development.
